Client Testimonials: Chris, A simple thank you rings hollow compared to the gift you gave us. To say we love the prayer wheel is an unbelievable understatement. It is the most beautiful piece of art we have ever seen. We are so deeply touched by the love and passion that you clearly felt when creating the prayer wheel. The detail, especially the waterfall, captures what we love about living in the great northwest. Scott and Margaret Hi there. My name is David, and I'm the Pediatric Bereavement Specialist at a hospice & home care. We provide medical support for many people, including children, and bereavement support as well. We recently saw your brochure for the prayer wheels, and we think it could be such a beautiful tool for our staff as well as for families experiencing serious illness or death. Thank-you for your time and for your good work there. ~ David Dear Chris, The prayer wheel arrived, it is perfect. You captured the spirit of the person it remembers. You are a fantastic artist, your work is beautiful and unique. Thank you so much. Robin Hi Chris, i have been holding onto your brochure for 3 years now when i saw you at a festival in Bellevue. i have thought a lot about how a prayer wheel could enter my life and help me on my road to recovery. i have no idea where to begin discussing what i would like on my prayer wheel, the shape, texture, or even colors that i want. i feel like investing myself in this process and would love to discuss more about how we can blend together your creative talents with my life theme to create a unique prayer wheel for me. Thanks "I love the custom prayer wheel that Chris made to house my mothers ashes. He worked diligently to make the urn a very personal experience. It is a one of a kind work of art, and I could not imagine any better place for my mother to rest." Brandi Fairbanks, Bellingham, WA Chris, It was a treat to meet you and see your awesome work! Jim and I both were very touched with the inspiration and beauty of your creations and with your desire to shed light on life changing issues and events in our society and the world. The wheel, the cycle of all life and nature, and cultural issues meld in such a uniquely organic creation that is full of truth, joy and hope. That is powerful and moving. Lanette Chris, The wheel was a fantastic success!! Mom and dad both loved it very much and it was a big hit at the celebration. We even, gingerly, took it with us on an all-family camping trip in the Wallowa Wilderness area. My brothers and sisters and I wrote a song to go with it too. I wanted to littlest grandchildren, age 3, to be able to join in too so I used the chorus to Ezekiel Saw the Wheel. The little one sang the chorus between each of the verses, which my sibs and I sang. The song told the story of our parent's marriage and the phases of life through the kids, the adoption of Randy, the stories behind some of the pictures on the wheel and into the models they provide us in our adult lives! Everybody cried and put prayers and wishes in the urn for them. We also had a cake with a photograph of them at their wedding, 50 years ago, frosted on the top! Then we ate it.... My greatest thanks to you both for everything that went into making and creating this wonderful heirloom. We will cherish it for many years and pass it on for generations. They have been the kind of parents that will leave a legacy for future generations to hear about. Many thanks for meeting me in Seattle. I actually stopped quickly on the freeway and having taken it out to admire, it tipped over in slow motion. I nearly had literal heart failure but it was totally fine... The other wild thing that happened was that I forgot it at home on the night we left for LaGrande and had to call my friends and neighbors to ship it to me, overnight! I insured it and had to have it professionally packed so we paid another 120.00 just to get it there.... I had a minute of insanity and then just did what I had to do and am not looking back! It gives the Wheel extra story power anyway! Thanks again. I have given your name to friends who love the wheel. You may hear from them! I hope so, you deserve a waiting list of things you love to do! Penny Chris, I just saw your work at Magnuson Park this past weekend. I fell in love with the thought of it all and was very touched by this at the core of who I am. I am recently engaged and planning a wedding for the end of July next year. I would love to have an "axis of hope" at my wedding celebration and wanted to start a conversation with you about this. I look forward to hearing from you on this. Thank you. Best Regards, Dear Chris, After visiting the excellent MindPort Exhibit and having the tactile experience of turning your prayer wheels, which I couldn't do at the Alaska Ferry Terminal or the Land Trust Auction, I would like to buy one. To me they are one continuous and intuitive use of the clay - reaching your hand for the raw clay, shaping it and then gently turning the prayer wheel to continue the movement. They really speak to me - and so do the thoughts you share when you write. Thank you. Is there a time when your studio is open for prospective customers? My time is open or can be adjusted. May I bring a friend? Since I live in town, distance is no restriction. I would like a prayer wheel I can lift! Whatcom Land Trust Volunteer Sally Chris: WOW! I just got the wheel and it is awesome. There is far more room in the interior than I expected - I was figuring on small pieces of paper - you could put whole sheets in there easily. I love it. I think my favorite part so far is how long it continues to spin after you spin it. I gave it a gentle spin and it slowly winds down for far longer than I figured it would. Chris, this is great. Thanks you so much, it will be a really cool part of our anniversary and for our lives to come. Now the dilemma of where it will live. Thanks again and I hope to talk to you again soon. Greg Chris: We met at the Edmonds Art Festival last summer and I told you about my Doberman Orion. When he passed away in October I sent my request to you via Crooked Lion Fine Arts for a commissioned prayer wheel for his ashes. I was in Lynden a couple of weeks ago and picked your beautiful work! Rion was very special to me. Saying "my dog passed away" has always sounded so inadequate. I didn't know if placing his ashes in the prayer wheel would help me feel better or not... it has. Keeping Rion safe was always my top priority during his life, and now that he is in his final resting place I feel that he is once again, safe. Although I am still unable to read the words on his wheel out loud, the illustrations you did for us are so full of fun and life that they always make me smile. I am grateful for the attention to detail and obvious care with which you created this wonderful piece of art for me, and for Rion. Many thanks, Chris!! Thank you for your photos, which arrived today in my mail. I love these things!! I would like "Circle Dance" and "The Great Cycles of Life" NOW. I don't know if you could get them here by the holidays and how all that works.... but I definitely would like those two.... to start! In addition, I am already working on some "ideas" in my mind for an original to work on together. I am a surgeon...and as such there will be many people passing through my waiting room to see one of these two...I may rotated them...and I would predict you will hear from more than a couple of my colleagues, friends and patients. Please let me know "how" all this works...and IF I can get them before Christmas. Thank you again for getting back to me so promptly. Russ |
