For more than four-hundred years, the development and economic growth of European exploitation of North America was fueled by a legal industry of kidnapping residents of Africa and selling them into slavery. The American Civil War ended legal slavery in the US, but the legacy of legal social and economic discrimination carried on for more than one hundred years, and racism remains a prominent element of society today. This prayer wheel honors the long struggle to end racism in America.
