Healing/Therapeutic Wheels: Healing encompasses our physical body, mind and spirit, as well as all of humanity. It hinges on the health of the land, air, water, creatures and plants that nurture us and keep us alive. No doubt, all of these benefit from healing activities and thoughts. I read something very interesting and inspiring the other day. It was about the healing benefits of turning traditional prayer wheels. Lama Zopa, Rinpoche (honorary title given to a respected spiritual teacher) commented: If someone with AIDS, cancer or some other disease meditated and used healing visualizations as they turned a prayer wheel it would help the healing process. Lama Zopa Rinpoche even explained two visualizations to do while turning a wheel. They involved visualizing light beams streaming out from the prayers inside the prayer wheel. If you want to learn more about these ancient techniques see: Therapeutic spaces such as hospitals, physical therapy or surgeon's wait rooms, yoga studios, community-healing ceremonies, a high school counselor's office, and hospice care--are all ideal places for a wheel. People suffering from illness, injuries or emotional trauma have a vehicle to help transform discomfort into peace of mind. Each of these examples listed above are real life examples viewable below. Time and again, I have been requested to create healing wheels for healing spaces. I am thankful to learn, as you will soon, that people benefited in small and large ways by interacting with a prayer wheel. Such is the power of prayers...intentions...hopes.
