Healing the Earth:
Wheels for a Healing Planet: "Memorializing Public Catastrophe"
"Everywhere, everyday, tragedy besets humankind and our green planet. It's part of life. However, I now feel, after some research on traditional Prayer Wheels (please see the link below) that erecting a wheel in a place of tragedy -- and filling it with community prayers and thoughts -- can help to heal the landscape and people affected by the calamity.

I read something very interesting and inspiring the other day. It was about the healing benefits of turning traditional prayer wheels. Lama Zopa, Rinpoche (honorary title given to a respected spiritual teacher) wrote how prayer wheels heal the land, animals, plants, water, and air they are near. He said, when you erect a prayer wheel, in say, a forest it brings peace and well being to the trees, creatures, even insects. Its no wonder the Franciscan Sisters of Wheaton, Illinois recently erected a prayer wheel on a section of Midwest prairie their community helped restore.
